OUR DIRECTORS

The people behind The Rybec Group

Alistair Kennedy

Director and Cyber Crime Specialist
Alistair's background is in law enforcement and cyber crime investigation. Before founding The Rybec Group, he spent years working at the sharp end of cyber crime: investigating attacks after the fact, working with businesses whose systems had been compromised, gathering digital forensic evidence and helping organisations understand what happened and how to prevent it happening again.
That experience matters because it is not theoretical. Alistair has seen what a ransomware attack does to a business. He has worked alongside victims who did not know where to turn and had no plan in place. He has spoken to attackers. He understands how intrusions are carried out, not just how to defend against them in principle.
When Alistair advises a client on their cyber controls, that advice is grounded in what he has seen go wrong, rather than what a certification checklist says should go right.

Chris Eastwood

Director and Cyber Resilience Specialist
Chris brings a background in policing, military service and cyber prevent work. His military career instilled the operational discipline and crisis management thinking that underpins the best incident response and business continuity planning. The kind of planning that does not fall apart under pressure because it was designed with pressure in mind.
His police background means he understands reporting obligations, investigation processes and what regulators and law enforcement actually look for in the aftermath of a cyber incident. He knows what a well-documented response looks like, and what an undocumented one costs.
Chris's cyber prevention experience, working proactively with organisations to reduce cyber risk before incidents occur, is the foundation of The Rybec Group's approach to awareness training, policy development and staff-level resilience. Prevention, in his view, is not a compliance activity. It is a practical one.
HOW WE WORK

How The Rybec Group works

Between them, Alistair and Chris have worked with businesses of all sizes across a range of sectors since founding The Rybec Group in 2022. The common thread is a practical, straightforward approach: making cyber security understandable rather than intimidating, and proportionate to what a business actually needs.
We do not recommend services you do not require. We do not disappear once the paperwork is signed. And we do not hand you a folder of template documents and consider our job done.
